My name is Manuel, and I am honored to be part of your journey as a therapist. As a dedicated social worker my work is rooted in understanding, empathy, and respect for the diverse backgrounds. My clinical style is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a powerful approach that helps individuals identify and transform unhelpful thoughts and behaviors, I also integrate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) techniques when needed. Above all, my works is focused on providing a supportive environment where you can feel heard and understood, and offering a well-rounded toolkit for managing emotions and building resilience.

Being culturally aware is important to my work. I have a deep appreciation for the rich cultural diversity and unique experiences each individual offers. As a proud first-generation Mexican American I understand the unique challenges and strengths that come with navigating multiple identities. I’m here to support you on your journey, respecting your background and experience while working collaboratively with you to achieve meaningful and lasting change.

Another clinical interest of mine is integrating your interest in pop culture, nerd culture, gaming, music, and art into your therapy. As a fellow nerd and proud ‘Otaku,’ I love to embrace the joy of geek culture while also supporting others on their journeys. Whether it’s discussing the emotional depth of a beloved anime or finding parallels between gaming and personal growth, I’m here to help fellow enthusiasts navigate their mental health with compassion and understanding. Let’s explore the worlds we love and the ones within ourselves together!

I look forward to supporting you and contributing to your growth and well-being.

Bridget Schuette, MSW

She/hers bridget@logansquaretherapist.com

As a social worker I recognize and hold space for the infinite life transitions that we all experience. It is important to me that our relationship is grounded in collaboration, transparency, authenticity, and empathy. Using a strengths-based approach that centers your experience, I aim to help you bolster the strengths that you already inherently hold.

Furthermore, I work from an ecological approach that builds upon your individual understanding of your own unique network of intersecting dynamics and systems. I come to the therapeutic relationship with recognition of my own privilege and engage in cultural humility to guide my own self-reflection and continual learning in the face of unknowing.

My early experience working in a domestic violence shelter gave me the opportunity to support both adults and youth who experienced violence and trauma. I continued my work with families through community-based case-management, where I partnered with parents to navigate systemic challenges and helped youth navigate new landscapes. During my studies it was important to me to focus on people throughout their lifespan, landing me in my specialization track focused on children and family.

I take an eclectic approach in my work using elements of mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). I work with individuals to acknowledge both painful as well as joyful experiences. In my practice I apply a trauma informed lens to give space to the connection between the brain and the body as well as the impact trauma has on the way one moves through the world. It is my hope that I can partner with you to build awareness and utilize that awareness to create balance in the areas of life most significant to you.

Bridget provides individual therapy to adolescents (ages 13+) as well as adults and is available by appointment. She can also be reached by clicking the link below, or by emailing bridget@logansquaretherapist.com

Dr. Andy Carton, PsyD

He/His Andy@logansquaretherapist.com

My primary concern is your empowerment. I believe that the causes of psychological suffering go beyond the individual. Together, we will identify and explore the familial, social, and cultural factors that contribute to your unique challenges. Understanding the effects of these sometimes-invisible forces equips you to more effectively chart your course toward the life you deserve. I maintain a non-judgmental, compassionate stance that respects the diversity of each individual and welcome clients from all backgrounds, regardless of racial, ethnic, gender, religious, or sexual identity.

I offer a direct and honest approach that addresses the core issues underlying the surface concerns. I offer empathic guidance and space for rich self exploration without overlooking the need for practical solutions. It is my job to help you cultivate the insight and develop the skills to create lasting change. I aspire to dispense with the cliche abstractions and aimless speculations prolific in some forms of traditional talk therapy and instead provide transparent, tangible strategies for healing. With a rich and diverse background in different treatment methodologies, I am able to draw from numerous empirically supported and evidenced-based therapeutic styles and techniques.

My primary areas of focus are depression, anxiety, and professional and relationship challenges. I also have specializations in trauma, substance abuse, and eating disorders. I received extensive training in a wide range of eating concerns and welcome clients who are struggling with any degree of disordered eating, body image distress, or weight concerns.

I earned my doctorate in psychology from George Washington University in Washington, DC, in 2021. I also  earned graduate degrees in psychology and political psychology from George Washington University. I also hold a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Towson University. I completed my pre-doctoral internship at a residential eating disorder treatment center here in Chicago. I previously served as a therapist and at a residential substance abuse rehabilitation facility in Washington, D.C. In addition, I completed year-long training practicums at the College Counseling Center of the University of District of Columbia, a historically black public university, and the George Washington University Center Clinic. Each training site was specifically chosen to develop a deep toolbox of skills and resources. I have experience with psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, acceptance-and-commitment, and dialectical-behavioral therapies, as well as mindfulness and exposure and response prevention work. My primary treatment orientation is psychodynamic, with strong influences of humanism, and an emphasis on systems theory.

I am a  therapist who specializes in sexuality, complex trauma, intimacy, body image spirituality and personal development. I am passionate about working  with individuals to help them know themselves better and experience deeper and healthier relationships with themselves and others. In my work as a therapist I have found that many clients have needed help with navigating healthy /healthier relationships. I have also found that many of my clients have had a hard time finding their voice after experiencing trauma.

I believe that our relationships have the ability to greatly influence and impact us, from our  thoughts and moods to how we treat ourselves and others. This belief also guided my doctoral dissertation on the impact of  male partner influence on body image dissatisfaction in African American Women.

I work with a variety of issues and mental health concerns. These include but are not limited to addictions, relationship concerns, sexuality concerns, low self esteem, perfectionism, social anxiety, LGBTQA issues, body image difficulties, co-dependency issues, and grief and loss. My work is informed by psychodynamic theory, which simply means I help to discover deeper patterns and dynamics in your life that may be causing your upsets. I may also point out habits in your thinking which lead to anxiety or low moods. I am also certified in yoga and often use breathwork to help my clients get out of their heads and into your bodies, teaching an ability to calm oneself.

I received my  Masters in Clinical Psychology 2008 and her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology 2010 from the Illinois School of Professional  Psychology. In my past experience have provided services in a variety of settings including Fantus Clinic at Stroger Jr. Hospital, Outpatient Psychiatry and Diabetes Clinics, and the Emergency Room Psych Triage, Cook County Jail, and Haymarket Center for Substance Abuse Treatment.

SUSIE SNIDERMAN, LCSW

She/her Susie@logansquaretherapist.com

I am a psychotherapist dedicated to helping individuals with depression and anxiety, with experience working with interpersonal and relationship violence, trauma, self-esteem and career transitions. In addition to my degree in Social Work, I hold a Master’s Degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. While I started in social services working with laid-off workers transitioning into new careers, I am enjoying broadening my clinical experience by utilizing my training in psychotherapy. My therapeutic approach is compassionate and non-judgmental, and very down to earth. I strive to recognize the impact of distressing and traumatic events/environments on each person, while helping them to think and feel differently about their past, present, and future. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as well as mindfulness techniques, I enjoy challenging people to break free from unhelpful patterns of thinking, and grow into more empowered version of themselves.

Early in my career, I sought out specialized training in counseling individuals who have experienced domestic violence and sexual violence. For several years I provided crisis counseling and advocacy to survivors of sexual violence on a volunteer basis. My work in sexual violence inspired me to become a psychotherapist. While obtaining my Master’s Degree in Social Work from University of Illinois at Chicago I gained experience treating a wide ranging population at Mount Sinai Hospital, including people living with serious mental illness.

David Rothblatt, LCPC

I am a licensed clinical professional counselor with experience treating depression, anxiety, PTSD, addiction and substance abuse as well as a variety of other issues. My approach is focused on helping clients balance self-acceptance and change, and working collaboratively to develop a broader understanding of oneself, and how to take positive steps forward. I enjoy working with clients to develop greater insight into where they are and where they would like to be, helping them improve relationships, careers, creative endeavors, and their overall ability to find clarity and a deep sense of meaning. I teach clients creative ways to connect with the wisest parts of themselves so they can progress in their lives with equanimity and confidence.

Generally, I view my work through the lens of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). DBT helps to teach a balance between acceptance and change, leading to an ability to be psychologically flexible while remaining firmly centered and grounded.

I began my professional journey as a musician touring throughout the United States and beyond performing original music. I then transitioned into a spiritual, contemplative life, becoming a practicing Buddhist monk. After studying and practicing in Buddhist monasteries throughout Asia I completed a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adler University. I have professional experience working in intensive outpatient, community mental health, and private practice settings, working with clients with a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, PTSD, addiction issues, as well as working with family and couples therapy models. I have also led numerous therapy groups and taught seminars on DBT to mental health clinicians and colleagues.

My experiences as an artist and as a monk have informed my therapeutic approach; I value creativity, spontaneity and a sense of play as well as mindfulness- the art of bringing one's attention to the present moment to live a more fulfilling and joyful life.

Although my approach combines DBT, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), as well as Person-centered and Narrative Therapy approaches, I most highly value the therapeutic relationship, which I believe is the most powerful agent of change in the therapy process.

I am privileged to be a part of my client’s lives as I help them find clarity, joy and a deeper understanding of themselves.

ANDREA NEWBERRY, MA, LCSW

she/hers andrea@logansquaretherapist.com

(Waitlist)

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Masters of Social Work from UIC and a Fine Arts degree from Columbia College. I have experience working with individuals, couples, and families from diverse communities experiencing a range of mental health presentations, including complex trauma, depression, anxiety, grief/loss, identity exploration, parent/family issues and navigating transitions.

I believe that each of us holds the internal wisdom we need for our own healing, yet the pain of past traumas, dysfunctional relationships and oppressive systems can leave us with persistent shame which cuts us off from listening to and understanding ourselves. By helping clients connect with both the positive and negative aspects of our experience, we can find greater acceptance and ownership of our experience and greater trust in our own internal voice.  I bring a strong trust in each of my client's strengths to move through this process. I am passionate about creating an open, safe, and collaborative space for you to come in as your whole self.  I'm an active and engaged therapist, who will do more than just silently listen. I combine active listening with feedback, guidance and support.

I know from personal experience how hard and uncomfortable this journey is. I have my own lived experience in therapy dealing with anxiety, depression, burnout and emotional dysregulation.  As a mother and parent, I have a deep understanding of the challenges we face to work on and accept our imperfect selves while also stewarding our children through this imperfect world. I understand the pain of relational dysfunction which has presented itself in my own relationships and have learned how to reframe conflict as an opportunity to deepen intimacy.

As someone who has sat on both sides of the therapeutic experience, I know and want to share the life changing benefits which can come from therapy. It is only by leaning into the discomfort, that we can transform pain and trauma into wisdom, empowerment and compassion.

In my practice as an inclusive therapist, I am committed to an anti-racist, queer-aligned, body-positive practice rooted in social justice.  I work with clients to identify needs and goals, co-creating a plan to empower your journey toward healing and wholeness. I am excited to accompany and support you on your journey. All inquiries are welcome.

Whether you are trying to develop a better understanding of your experience or want support in working with a specific diagnosis I can help you find your path forward.

Over time, we have all developed coping strategies that have gotten us to this point, yet many of us find ourselves feeling overwhelmed, complacent, or even having accepted unhappiness. Dr. Ryan Maher, PsyD

he/his, ryan@logansquaretherapist.com

In listening and providing space across my time in practice, I’ve found there is infinite potential when two people share a room and earnestly attempt to heal. In my experience, this difficult world can become so much more palatable when there are kind people willing to listen to your story and aid in a journey of insight. It is a supreme privilege to be a person who gets to help others open up their world to more choice and greater possibility.

I hold a PsyD and MA in clinical psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. As a practitioner I have found particular aptitudes in working with adults who have experienced traumas, anxiety and depression, concerns with substance use, and people looking to find greater meaning in their lives. That said, I am passionate about providing empathetic care to all who come to sit across from me seeking care.

I practice with an overarching focus on the therapeutic relationship that grows and builds during the on-going conversation of therapy. My approach is formulated within Existential/Humanistic practices and deepened by the inclusion of other methods from traditions such as: Object Relational and Interpersonal Psychodynamics, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), stress-reduction and relaxation techniques, and Narratively-focused therapies. I find that this flexibility in application allows me to offer clients an individually tailored experience that values their goals, identities, and struggles as equally important and influential. By working collaboratively with the different aspects of self, history, and current circumstances that people bring to therapy, I seek to assist in piecing together a more cohesive overall understanding.

In my training I’ve been fortunate to have a wide breadth of experience across many different care settings. These include: a schizophrenia treatment site, a crisis and emergency psychiatric hospital, private practice, community mental health, a residential substance use treatment center, and a rural VA behavioral health center. Each has served to deepen my appreciation for the capacity for hope, survival through adversity, and shared human connections. In my work, I’ve been a part of priceless conversations about living and dying, the spectrum of joy and despair, sexuality in its many forms, the extraordinary and unusual, and questions about overcoming the past in order to live a fulfilling future.

Dr. Maher is supervised by Dr. Mark Sciarrino, PsyD, and provides individual therapy services in-office or via telehealth. He can be reached to schedule an appointment any time by clicking the link below, or by emailing ryan@logansquaretherapist.com.
