I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Masters of Social Work from UIC and a Fine Arts degree from Columbia College. I have experience working with individuals, couples, and families from diverse communities experiencing a range of mental health presentations, including complex trauma, depression, anxiety, grief/loss, identity exploration, parent/family issues and navigating transitions.
I believe that each of us holds the internal wisdom we need for our own healing, yet the pain of past traumas, dysfunctional relationships and oppressive systems can leave us with persistent shame which cuts us off from listening to and understanding ourselves. By helping clients connect with both the positive and negative aspects of our experience, we can find greater acceptance and ownership of our experience and greater trust in our own internal voice. I bring a strong trust in each of my client's strengths to move through this process. I am passionate about creating an open, safe, and collaborative space for you to come in as your whole self. I'm an active and engaged therapist, who will do more than just silently listen. I combine active listening with feedback, guidance and support.
I know from personal experience how hard and uncomfortable this journey is. I have my own lived experience in therapy dealing with anxiety, depression, burnout and emotional dysregulation. As a mother and parent, I have a deep understanding of the challenges we face to work on and accept our imperfect selves while also stewarding our children through this imperfect world. I understand the pain of relational dysfunction which has presented itself in my own relationships and have learned how to reframe conflict as an opportunity to deepen intimacy.
As someone who has sat on both sides of the therapeutic experience, I know and want to share the life changing benefits which can come from therapy. It is only by leaning into the discomfort, that we can transform pain and trauma into wisdom, empowerment and compassion.
In my practice as an inclusive therapist, I am committed to an anti-racist, queer-aligned, body-positive practice rooted in social justice. I work with clients to identify needs and goals, co-creating a plan to empower your journey toward healing and wholeness. I am excited to accompany and support you on your journey. All inquiries are welcome.
