Hello, I’m Fynn.

Every therapeutic experience starts with creating a safe and nonjudgmental space where you can share, cry, laugh, and grow into your most authentic self, free of the shame and guilt imposed by society. Within this frame, we can show attention and care towards all of your experiences- your trauma, your grief, your sadness- while still leaving room for agency, accountability, and growth. As an affirming yet direct/active therapist I appreciate that even in our healthiest states each of us hold two simultaneous yet sometimes conflicting truths- we accept our selves fully, yet we still feel oriented towards change and growth. In our sessions we will make space for both perspectives- understanding and accountability - as we begin to examine the underlying feelings behind our experience, often a sense of numbness, stagnation, and tension held in the body.

While my approach is to be direct and active in therapy, we also take a realistic and flexible approach with each of my clients. I pulling from trauma-informed modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) depending on what works best for your unique situation and your unique brain.

As a social worker I also believe in the importance of taking the larger systems of our society into account. The effects that oppression and late-stage capitalism have on us are a very real part of our experience. These cannot be ignored when understanding the individual. Decolonization is always a part of my therapeutic lens when helping BIPOC, immigrant, LGBTQ+, and persons with disabilities heal the traumas of living within these systems.

So much of our identities, the things that we love, and even parts of our minds and even bodies can be incongruent, and are ever evolving. These contradictions, question marks, and mysteries of our selves are at the center my work, reflecting where we come from, who we are, and who we are becoming. I, myself, am a transgender, midwestern, Thai-iced-tea-lover, with an affinity for contact sports, tulips, preventative care, and music that sounds like smashing a synthesizer. It is my great privilege to help you discover who you are, and to help you explore the questions-Who are you? And who do you want to be?

If you’re ready to grow, change, and to continue to evolve into the most authentic and confident version of yourself, I’d be honored to embark on this healing journey with you and assist you in traversing this ever-changing snakes-and-ladders-style thing we call life.

Rock on,

Fynn
